i heart jewelmint

I'm sure everyone is familiar with Jewelmint by now, but I have to say they constantly keep me well accessorized.  Easily a monthly go to for me, I find their pieces to be on trend, durable and a great value for the price.  Here are a few of my current faves.
the Cinema Americano bracelet (far left)
Urban Tribe necklace (with a studded DIY of my own)
Lioness and Polar Ends bracelets (top and bottom)

Friday Favorites- An Awesome Friday!

The Solestruck Fall 2011 Lookbook just came out today and I'm so excited to announce that my jewelry was used to style the models (including the colorful necklace on the model on the right)!  You MUST check out the lookbook here and CB designs NYC here!  It was kind of a dream come true to be included in this project.
My first pair of Creepers- so funky, so fresh.
A hand-me-down that was given to me in the office today.  A friend of mine shrunk this cute dress and passed it off to me- guess being a shorty does have its perks sometimes!
Last but not least my tickets to see Sir Paul McCartney at Yankee Stadium tonight!  I am one of THE biggest Beatles and Paul fans you will find so I've had butterflies in my tummy in anticipation of the big show all day!!

Adorably perfect Moschino shorts.  Hearts in leopard print makes me heart them.
A new favorite accessory from In God We Trust NYC, you gotta check out the other ones they have!
Loving the boho look of these feathered ear cuffs and debating whether I can pull it off or not.
This one by fellow Etsy-er fancyThataccessories
They will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine.  (Yes both of them, duh.)
Jeffrey Campbell Lana and Lita- the perfect sisters.
My new experiments in jewelry- fun with leather and suede!  The pieces are really standout.

A Home for My Jewels

As the size of my jewelry collection is ever increasing, my need to creatively store it all has needed to increase as well!
I've kind of used my jewelry to 'decorate' my apartment in a way.  I like to look for old glass ash trays to keep jewelry in.  This one I got at a flea market.  And the hand I got at Urban Outfitters, perfect for rings.
I found these glass fruit trays on ebay that have a few compartments to fabulously fit some stuff in.
My most recent addition has been to decorate my walls with necklaces using hooks and nails to drape them.  Best part is that it keeps them from getting all tangled up!  (All of these items are part of my CB designs collection available for purchase here)

What are your tricks for storing your jewels??

Can we be friends?

These photos are not news and neither is my obsession with the MK and Ash.

DIY: Studded Sneakers

I've seen the studded Chuck Taylor's for sale forever but never wanted to pay the hefty price tag (I save that for the real knock out shoes!)  Hello DIY!

All you need is:
  • A pair of Converse Hi Top Chuck Taylors
  • Pyramid Studs with prongs (iron ons won't quite cut it)
  • A flat head screwdriver, butter knife, or any tool with a flat surface
Just poke each stud through the canvas and flatten the prongs with your tool and...VIOLA!
I ended up using 27 per sneaker.  I plan on adding another row or so, but by the time I finished putting 54 in, I literally lost some feeling in a few of my fingers.  So now that I have the feeling back I can go in and add in a few more!

DIY: Neon Necklace

This spring I have been searching for a neon colored rhinestone necklace.  I adore the Tom Binns designs and also Adia Kibur- but both are either too expensive for this gal or sold out everywhere I look.  So here is my DIY version of my neon necklace for Summer 2011.
You need:
  • A cheap costume necklace (I got mine from a random store on Broadway for $3.75)
  • Paint in the color you choose (I happened to get a double whammy by using nail polish instead!)
  • A small brush (I used a cheap lip brush I never use that is always at the bottom of my make up bag)
Literally, the only instructions are to paint the stones you want painted and viola!
Wham Bam Thank you Ma'am!

Made(Very)Well!

NYC is about to be blessed with it's second Madewell store. While on my lunch break yesterday I was strolling down Fifth Avenue making my way to H&M when upon closer look at a storefront under construction saw 'Madewell coming soon.' Major score for the Flatiron District! The new store will be joining the Fifth Avenue stretch of Anthropologie, LF, Free People, and it's sister company, J. Crew to name a few. Located at the corner of 19th Street and taking the place of the old Nine West store, the new space looks to be slightly larger than the Soho store which is a win for all of us. The spring opening of this and the new Michael Kors store just one block away is going to make for some fun lunch breaks this summer!

Some of my favorite looks for spring from Madewell and the Vintage Rocker Jeans that seriously changed my life.

A Springtime Ode to Jeffrey Campbell

It is the time of year that all around are cute Easter dresses for little girls in store windows and brightly colored candy everywhere. The trees and flowers are finally starting to blossom and the sun is shining longer. But the biggest sign of spring for me has to be in my shoe closet! I have been preparing for this time for weeks and months now and it is just about here...and of course, Jeffrey Campbell has been right there with me (Thanks to Solestruck and Nasty Gal). My brand new Litas, Fords, and Mariels will be putting that extra spring in my step this season and maybe if I am extra good, the Easter Bunny might slip an extra pair in my basket this year!

(and yes, sometimes I have photo shoots with my shoes.)

Behold Festival Season!

I can't say that I'm a big fan of the summer music festivals. While I am a regular concert goer, I also live in NYC where its hard enough to escape a crowded setting on a daily basis. So I just can't get into paying hundreds of dollars to be in the middle of nowhere where a tent (or local seedy hotel) is my only escape. I have access to plenty of concerts year round and just don't feel the need to cram my entire concert experience into 3 days with hundreds of thousands of other people.

THAT SAID, I DO love festival attire! I'm a big fan of the carefree, hippie, rocker chic and effortless feeling to the outfits put together and the easy, natural waves you can get away with in not doing your hair for days. Its a great vibe that I totally steal for my summer weekend looks when I trek to Coney Island or obscure parts of the city rocking my big headphones (my own personal city music festival).
