Travel in Style

Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens
Rihanna
Ryan Gosling
Anne Hathaway
Pixie Lott
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

I struggle to look this good when I try. How much cooler can these cats get? Although thanks to the paparazzi and blogs like Airport Outfits, I suppose I might put on my A game at the airport if I was somebody.

Pretty Vacant

I always love walking past the Hotel Chelsea in NYC. Honestly, I love walking past most things in NYC that have Chelsea in the name. But regardless of that, when I walk past that old hotel and when I've gone in for a drink, I always think about the crazy rock n' roll history that went down in it.

'The place where Sid killed Nancy, Edie Sedgewick got wasted and started a fire, Bob Dylan sang and Janice Joplin hung out is ideal inspiration for an artsy, naked, wasted shoot. The resulting images are moody and intense and reminds you that people used to be cooler. '

These photos are from Vogue Italia's editorial featuring Kristen McMenamy and shot by Steven Meisel. Bitchin.

You's A Nasty

Nasty Gal just came out with their May 2011 look book, and what a looker it is! I kind of obsessively check their site at least once a day to see what new items I can snag before they're gone. If you haven't checked out their site yet Go NOW!!

Met Ball Envy

The 2011 Met Gala took place last night to the theme of "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty," honoring the late British couturier. What would you give to attend this once in your life?? I'm not sure a more glamorous event exists. There were so many stunning looks (and a few questionables- yes you, Rihanna, Solange Knowles and Chloe Sevigny- i know Chloe was in McQueen but just didn't pull it off in my opinion). Here are a few of my favorites of the night, that to me were just perfection for the evening.

Of course the angelic looking Sarah Burton
Lee Lee Sobieski in Vionnet
Stella McCartney
Ginnifer Goodwin in custom Topshop
Freida Pinto in Chanel
Stunners in McQueen: Anna Della Russo and Hilary Rhoda

Crystal Renn in Zac PosenPower Couples: Christina Ricci and Zac PosenKarl Lagerfeld and Blake Lively (really love her new hair color, but her skin color shouldn't match it- otherwise, she looks stunning)Christian Louboutin and Ashley Olsen in Christian Dior (love both Olsens, but Ash def got one up on MK this time) images via Huffington Post

Loving: Opening Ceremony

I have become quite a growing fan of all things Opening Ceremony. With the opening last year of NYC's second store a few blocks from my office, my lusting grows every time I pass their windows. (sometimes I need to take a detour when I'm feeling particularly vulnerable)
These photos are from their Spring 2011 lookbook shot by the famed Terry Richardson and feature Lindsey Wixson- how major does she look? (obsessing over the soft curls and red lips)

The collection is finally available in stores and online and covers basically everything on your spring/summer wishlist- lace, nautical, cargo, sheers, prints, 70s, oh my! Do I even need to mention the shoes???? I didn't think so.

The Great Sock Debate.

While the days of summer MUST be getting closer, in NYC we are yet to really make it into warm weather territories. As I have been preparing my shoe wardrobe for the warmer months I just can't wait any longer to bust out my open toe shoes! Thus is the question, dare I attempt pull them off with socks? (I've gotten the over the knee sock to work, but the ankle sock walks a very fine line)

I think the look can be pulled off so cute with just the right sock with just the right shoe with just the right outfit and just the right amount of slouch to the sock. And of course the look works fabulously on the runways or on celebs (see Rihanna, Chloe Sevigny and Leighton Meester), but can I pull it off for every day without it looking too fussy, too hippie or too 80s?
I'll continue to have the great sock debate in my head, but how about mother nature make things easier for us all and bring out the warmer temperatures! (in the mean time perhaps I'll be on the look out for an appropriate ankle sock on my lunch break...)
